The Balvenie Doublewood 12-Year-Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 40%

Perhaps the flagship whisky of legendary Balvenie Distillery, the Doublewood 12 is matured for the majority of it's life in traditional American Oak ex-bourbon barrels before transfer into Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional 9 months. Each cask is then married together in large oak vessels called "tuns" for 3-4 months to allow the whisky to come together in fullness of flavour and harmony.

Nose:  Sweet apple and honey, with creamy vanilla, raisin notes and Olroso spice

Palate:  Unctuously smooth with swirling flavours of soft fruits, honey on toast, nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicate hint of sherry oak.

Finish: Gentle, long and warming.
